The Taipei Metro (Taiwan)

In a city with a population exceeding two million(six million if we include neighbouring urban areas), users have to navigate the city’s complex urban transport system on a daily basis. However, the speed of the metro, the numerous lines available and the price of tickets have made Taipei metro the best solution for counteracting traffic congestion problems, with some accesses to the city collapsing on a day-to-day basis.

This is an urban underground network, stretching 131.1 kilometres with 5 lines covering 117 stations and transporting an average of 2 million passengers on a daily basis.

‘The Tube’ – The London Underground (UK)

The famous London “Tube” was the world’s first underground railway, established in 1863 and therefore,also the most obsolete. However, we cannot forget that the London underground carries approximately one billion passengers a year, nor the vast number of lines and stations that form part of the network. Eleven lines cover 274 stations for more than 408 kilometres, representing one of the largest underground networks in the world.

The Paris Metro

The Paris Metro, inaugurated in 1900, is a rapid transit system operated by the Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP), servicing the French capital currently the second busiest metro system in Europe. Internationally recognized as being one of the best transport systems in terms of service density, frequency and safety, it has a network of 214 kilometres, with approximately 300 stations and provides a daily service to 4.5 million passengers.

Since 2014, lines A and B of the Paris RER (which forms part of its metro network) use GoalRail®metro and GoalStaff® for their planning systems. It is a highly complex project since the lines are run by two different operators (RATP and SNCF). The RER A crosses the city of Paris from east to west while the RER B crosses it from north to south reaching the two airports. Madrid Metro (Spain)

Since 1919 Madrid has become the second largest metro network in Europe, with long underground sections. It is one of the busiest underground systems and has a light metro network that links the large outlying districts of Madrid, making it one of the most functional means of metropolitan transport in Spain.

Madrid Metro has 301 stations and 13 lines, carrying over 500 million passengers over 294 kilometres of network every year.

Río de Janeiro Metro (Brazil)
