Transmilenio

TRANSMILENIO – Restructuring of Urban Transportation in a city with 8,000,000 inhabitants.

·          Actual fleet: 1.500 Buses

·          Expected fleet: 12.000 Buses

·          Stations: 114

·          Transported Passangers: 2 billions

·          Kms of Routes: 515

·          Number of planners: 8

·          Drivers: 4000

·          Main Benefit: Savings on Buses needed and Optimal Service Planning.

The Transporte Masivo del Tercer Milenio System -TransMilenio- forms part of the SITM (Integrated System of Mass Transit of Bogota, which includes the cycle route network and future suburban train projects and the first metro line.

This service was able to commence thanks to the financed investment using a percentage of the fuel tax and contributions from the Capital District and the State Government. The construction of the infrastructure and the road system, as well as maintenance of these, is carried out by the city’s Inst. de Desarrollo Urbano (IDU).
The system comprises articulated vehicles with mandatory stops at exclusive stations. It works like a metro but uses articulated buses instead. It is one of the so-called BRT systems (Bus Rapid Transit). In general, there are two exclusive lanes on both sides of the station to enable the articulated express service vehicles to overtake standard service.

By 30 June 2007, the TransMilenio service had a fleet of 1,063 articulated buses and 410 feeder buses. It had transported a total of 1,653,134,278 passengers over a network of 114 stations via 84 km of primary routes and 515 km of secondary routes, with a total of 71 feeder routes connecting 302 districts with the primary routes to a total of 807,779,842 passengers, with an average speed of travel of 27 km per hour; 102,930,226 passengers were transported on the inter-municipal services of the area surrounded Bogotá and an average of 232.747 kilometres travelled on the trunk fleet.

GOAL SYSTEMS took part in this project from the very beginning, providing the capacity to meet the service needs in number of units and drivers and in the set-up of the service through bringing the current operating plans into effect using its GoalBus® and GoalDriver® products.

Our Tool reduces National Planning Times for the SNCF TGV

·          Actual fleet: 6000 engines

·          Employees: 180.000

·          High Speed fleet: 350 engines

·          Weekly trains: 5500

·          Railway kilometers: 1 540 km

·          Transported passengers: 1.055 Millions

·         Transported Tons: 106 Millions

·         Main Benefit: Savings on engines needed and better maintenance distribution

SNCF-TGV is the European leader in High Speed technology. As innovators in this technology, the TGV has absorbed a large amount of customers who formerly travelled by plane, due to the reduced travelling time, especially for distances of less than three hours. This is because the train journey is completed in a shorter time given the lack of protocols and inspections associated to airports, as well as airport security formalities. Details such as location of stations, much closer to the centre of cities than airports, also play a part. Elsewhere, the TGV is a very safe means of transport that has never had a high-speed accident.

The GoalRail® optimisation system plans the material graphics of French TGV compositions, jointly sorting out maintenance, the type of composition and the kind of material to be used in each service in accordance with passenger demand.

The response times of the tool reduce national planning of the TGVs from weeks to a few hours.
In the latest tests carried out, there was a saving of 12 trains, which leads to a spectacular result for the company.

FGV Obtains Quickness and Reliability on its Railway Services

·          Actual fleet: 106

·          Stations: 182

·          Network Kilometers: 245.415

·          Transported passengers: 73.097.256 per year

·          Number of lines: 5

·          Employees: 1.935

·          Main Benefit: The right match between supply and demand of the service

Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) was founded in November 1986, following a process of Railway Service transferral to the Valencian Community from services that the Ferrocarriles de Vía Estrecha del Estado (FEVE) had within its territory.

Before the foundation of the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV), the narrow-gauge rail network in Valencia consisted of a classic suburban network with great importance in the metropolitan area but very little influence in strictly urban traffic movements.

In October 1988, the first underground section of the network was opened which, with a length of 7 kilometers, connected the suburban lines of Llíria, Bétera and Rafelbunyol to the north of the city with the Villanueva de Castellón line to the south.

Currently FGV has a total of 5 lines and 182 stations spread along the 245 km network through which a fleet of 106 units circulates, 88 of them serve in the Metrovalencia network and 18 trains operating on the Alicante-Denia line.

The GoalRail ® Metro optimization system has allowed FGV the possibility to program jointly mesh hourly drivers and machines. This method allows greater optimization because it considers the overall problem, gaining greater potential for optimization.
